February 2023 Event Preview
Could it be that 2023 will be the "Year of Industry Events"? It's been a couple of years since we've had an actual event circuit and it's clear that people couldn't be happier to get back together again. Hell, I'm almost happy to see Andrew Kraft's travel sock posts...

Full list of events. Are we missing something? Let us know.
Last Week First: Newport Beach Base Camp – Feb 26 - Mar 1st
Hey, it's my article so I get to do this however I want and I want to talk about Base Camp Newport Beach first.
- The agenda gets tighter and tighter with each prep call.
- The energy for the event continues to grow.
- Only one panel the whole event. Peers > Panels.
- We are going to get shit done. I know most events lead with having a good time. First, a good time is a given but more importantly is Base Camp is focused on collaboration that lead to ACTION. We don't do events for events' sake.
It's invite only but that doesn't mean you can't reach out and ask. The sooner the better. Attendees are starting to order their Base Camp swag:
Oh, and Mobile World Congress and Ramp Up are the same week, but like no one goes to them.
Let's get back to chronological order....
Feb Week 1: Data Clean Rooms & CTV
February 1st we'll have a publisher-only roundtable discussion about data clean rooms. the IAB announced that data clean rooms will be 'essential' technology for our industry. It's time to align on best practices.
February 2nd we'll have a prep session for Base Camp attendees to talk about our CTV content in Newport Beach. It's how we do.
Feb Week 2: Industry Preview and Beet.TV
Feb 7th is AdExchanger's Industry Preview. We're big fans of Neil Vogel from DotDashMeredith – he was amazing at OPS many years ago. It would be great to hear how he's navigating his company's changes as well as those of the industry. I'll also point out Dentsu's Mark Prince's session on DEI, mostly because we're hoping to have him speak at one of our events. Feel free to let him know if you know him.🙂
Feb 8th - 10th some of you lucky bastards will be heading to Puerto Rico for Beet Retreat San Juan 2023. Get this: it's an invite-only event! Don't you hate... oh wait... never mind. Keep reading.
Feb Week 3: Super Bowl, Valentine's & Brand Safety – Oh my!
Super Bowl Sunday is followed quickly by Valentine's Day. That almost feels...intentional. It's at least convenient for those who party too hard during the halftime show.
Valentine's Day isn't really a day off for people, so why not help us prep for Base Camp with a conversation about brand safety? You're seeing a lot more conversation recently about the impact on publishers misguided or poorly executed brand safety strategies. Let's discuss what we can do about it. February 14: Brand Safety prep session.
On Feb 16th we'll host another Base Camp prep session, but this time it's focused on the buy side elements of our agenda. While the prep session is for Base Camp attendees, if you're on the buy side reach out – we might want to brainstorm together on what we should discuss at the event.
Feb Week 4: EU Data Clean Rooms, Prebid Server & The Black & Latinx Publishers Summit 2023
Another Beeler.Tech publisher-only virtual roundtable focused on data clean rooms. The twist: this is for publishers in the European market. The current betting line is 30 seconds until GDPR is brought up. Yup, and we'll talk it through and hit on a number of other essential parts of having a publisher data clean room strategy. Ask for an invite at [email protected].
Feb 22nd, Prebid will be talking Prebid Server at 11am Eastern on a webinar. it'll cover Prebid Server initiatives, the strategic vision for Prebid Server in 2023, the module system roadmap items including CTV and DOOH for Server. So like... you should tune in for this!
Oh! Oh! Oh! This one is super exciting! February 23rd is the Black & Latinx Publishers Summit 2023. This year’s summit will bring together a select group of leaders in-person to discuss how advertising revenue can continue to fund the content we all know and enjoy on the open web. Join us for thought-provoking discussions brought to you in partnership with Beeler.Tech and Infinity Partnerships from our Hudson event space in NYC. Agenda is in the works, but Kerel Cooper and Lynne d. Johnson are going to part of the event, so you know it's going to be good.
What did we miss? Say the word and we'll add it to the event calendar.
