Base Camp is days away (!!) and if you’re camping with us, start getting psyched up and prepare. I’ve come to describe what we are doing at Base Camp as “publisher activism” – we have to start to affect change within our industry so that ad-supported content creators can continue to invest in what they do. Change doesn’t come from 40-minute conversations, but they can be enough to kick off ideas that go beyond the event.
But it isn’t just our campers who should be paddling to get ready, but everyone involved within this industry. I’m more of a kite surfer than a surfer, but even I know that if you see a wave coming your way, you move. You prep and you paddle. Let’s get moving.
Base Camp Newport Beach
The agenda has come together quite nicely. Everybody's registered. Folks, we're ready! If you're joining us, here’s what to do before you arrive.
Not sure what I mean? Check your inbox for a note from [email protected] with details.
If you’re not coming to Base Camp Newport Beach or are interested in attending a Base Camp in the future, join us for a Newport Beach debrief + Base Camp Edinburgh kickoff call on April 5, at 11:30 a.m. ET. We’ll cover what we learned in Newport Beach, how we plan to move various initiatives forward, and discuss the preliminary agenda for Base Camp Edinburgh.
>> There are two session-prep calls left before Base Camp. Please join the calls that you’re able to and share your thoughts on these topics before the conference.

For those of you who knew Mary Atchison, there were updates on her case last week.
The Programmatic Digest, hosted by Hélène Parker, is a 25-45 minutes weekly podcast rounding up fresh, top programmatic and digital headlines from our preferred digital media sources. It is also going to feature educational interviews with experts in the industry, like yourself. And Hélène is awesome.

Tiffany Hsu at The New York Times is focusing on bad ads. - “Bad ads can be a sign of many things: a weakening economy, a shift in priorities for social media companies, even a bolder push by malicious actors to indoctrinate consumers.“

Featured Job Seeker #2
"Before mobile ads, before video ads, and way before header bidding, there was me. I started in ad operations almost 20 years ago and have gotten to grow up and learn with the industry. I have learned the media planning, account management, and analytics side of sales support. It puts me in the unique position of being able to contribute that understanding and passion for digital advertising to my next position. If it's growing a new ad ops department or maintaining and improving on an existing one, I'm available and excited for the challenge."
