January 2023 Event Preview
It’s a new year, and I already feel like I’m booked for 2023. Yes, the event schedule is already feeling full and hard to navigate. Our hope is with this “living article,” we can give some context to what we think is worth your time. The days of the boondoggle, I feel, are numbered…for at least a couple of years. So pick the events that are going to help you, your department, and your company achieve success. Attend and make the most of your time and engage!
Full list of events. Are we missing something? Let us know.
Week 1: CES
While I’d love to start off with a Beeler.Tech event, everyone knows the year starts off with the feeding frenzy that is CES. Brands go to see cool tech. Agencies go to see the Brands. Publishers go to see the Agencies, and the vendors go to see all of them. Is it worth your time? I feel like if you’re not sure, it probably isn’t. But if you’ve been and you’ve justified all the drinks you’ll buy at the chandelier bar to your management team, you should be good. This is almost 100% networking with a touch of content.
Okay, maybe more than a touch. In partnership with Fastener and Tony Winders, I'll be I had planned to be moderating a panel on the impacts of automation on Friday morning, January 6th, in the Media Ocean retreat. Unfortunately, I came down with the 'rona over the holidays, but I'm confident that David Berkowitz, Tameka Kee, Scott Messer, and Jason White will have a great conversation. To attend, sign up for the Media Ocean retreat and select our session. Register and select our session.
Week 2: Topics, TDF Foundation and Base Camp prep calls
Jan 11th at 11am ET, the Private Advertising Technology Community Group (PATCG) is hosting a call on Topics and more voices need to be involved. This call should be a good place for a dedicated group to address open issues and suggest technical fixes. The call will take place on Google Meet or dial: (US) +1 253-289-6906 PIN: 365 612 889 56#.
So excited to sponsor the TDF Foundation Gala for another year! January 11th in New York. It’s all networking, but for an amazing cause. Tom Deierlein updates some of us and tells the REAL impact this foundation is having on lives. Example: 6 year Navy Veteran waiting on her disability rating from the VA. They found a new job, but the leasing agent didn’t care and said make a payment or you are out – others waiting for your apartment. The TD Foundation helped this individual make the payment and stay in their home through the holidays.
Beeler.Tech has an offer for you: buy a piece of TDF merch in our store and every dime we collect goes to the TD Foundation. The products are high quality. Check out the collection.
Week 2 is when prep calls for our Publisher Revenue Base Camp event in Newport Beach begin. Restricted to our publisher and VIP attendees, these prep calls help organize the agenda of the conference so that the precious time we spend in person is maximized. Every session of Base Camp starts the same way: “how can we collaborate to make the industry better?”. So if you’re interested in an event where you can help drive an agenda that aims for tangible results… we have the event for you.

Week 3: Beeler.Tech Dinner for Publishers
Invite only dinner in New York for publishers on the 18th: Regulation and the platforms are making it easy for people to opt-out. That hurts brands’ ability to reach their target consumers. We as publishers need to solve this issue for those brands and for ourselves. Reach out to us if this is the type of discussion is your jam.
Week 4: IAB ALM in Marco Beach, Florida
As they say on their event page, “it starts here”. Big wigs talking about big topics and making big plans for the year. Someone from your company should probably be there. Important announcements are made there and discussed.
I am finally in the same lineup as A-Rod (my dad would have been so proud). I'll be moderating a panel on Monday January 23rd: Publisher Pathing: In Conversation with CafeMedia, Hearst and The Trade Desk: Supply path optimization continues to be top of mind for advertisers, publishers and everyone in the media buying ecosystem. In 2022, The Trade Desk launched OpenPath, a direct integration with publishers aimed at providing a benchmark for efficiency and transparency. In this presentation, hear from The Trade Desk and some initial OpenPath partners on results, learnings and what to expect for the future of SPO in 2023.
I’m not saying the IAB had to have me host a session, but for anyone that hosts an event, know that I’m already mic’d up and ready to open the show:
